Comverge has the expertise and the tools to help retailers realize opportunities for saving energy and money.
Americans are embracing the green movement, as evidenced by their decision to spend their money with environmentally-friendly retailers. Forward-thinking retailers not only understand the cost savings of energy conservation, but also the public relations value that goes along with it.
Comverge's energy infrastructure management solutions help retailers improve operating efficiency, cut energy costs, and provide customers with an environmentally-friendly shopping experience.
Case in point
A busy retail store, located in a shopping center with normal operating hours from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., requested Comverge install a Datapult Information Sensor (DIS) to analyze their energy use. After analyzing the data collected by the DIS, Comverge learned the store's energy management system was malfunctioning, causing the lighting and HVAC to run 24 hours a day. Thanks to this discovery, the store corrected the problem and proceeded to save $560 per month, 30-percent of their former electric bill.

Successful use of demand response programs
Comverge developed a strategy to allow a retail customer to load shed eight-to-ten kW of load for demand response purposes by utilizing an existing building automation system. Twenty-nine buildings participated across one PJM zone. Load shed in all 29 buildings occurred by:
- Utilizing building automation to allow temperature to drift within short timeframes
- Evaluating current interval data and baseline to maximize participation
The customer participating in the demand response real-time program and is expected to receive $38,000 by utilizing existing infrastructure and systems.
