Measurement and Verification (M&V) is a key component of any Demand Response program. From simple signal verification to in-home temperature monitoring to real-time load profiling, Comverge's M&V systems provide essential data for determining program effectiveness, improving load relief, and monitoring network health. M&V also allows Comverge to provide reports on available capacity, the exact amount of load shed at each particular M&V site, and data to statistically determine aggregate load reduction over the system. This data is collected, then formatted, analyzed, and reported in a format that is agreed upon by Comverge and the utility.

Comverge's M&V technology is installed on a statistically relevant percentage of sites based on factors such as geographic location, altitude, demographic considerations, the age of the home or business facility and type and size of compressor. The sites are monitored in real-time throughout a curtailment event to ensure sound operation of the system, and throughout the season testing receptivity and operation.

M&V is a real alternative to a fully two-way communications Demand Response program. Using Comverge's M&V site selection process, statistically valid data is collected and used to improve program operations. Coupled with physical site inspections, this ensures the ongoing health of the program and field devices.
