Comverge offers a range of services for implementing Demand Response programs – from marketing and customer recruitment to measurement and verification. Together, these services are available as a full-turnkey and/or pay-for-performance offering customized to the utility’s unique goals and needs. Separately, these services represent some of the most specialized offerings in the industry – staffed by Demand Response experts focused solely on maximizing the value of each and every program.

Comverge’s fully outsourced, pay-for-performance programs, which include all of our services and relevant products, are called Virtual Peaking Capacity™ (VPC) programs. These programs provide the utility with peak capacity – just like a power plant. In these programs, utilities are actually purchasing a guaranteed number of megawatts from Comverge through contracts similar to a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) usually signed with a generation plant or power marketer. Comverge has been awarded five residential pay-for-performance Demand Response contracts, with programs at PacifiCorp, San Diego Gas & Electric, ISO New England, and the Public Service Company of New Mexico.

For the fifth, Comverge was awarded a commercial and industrial VPC contract by Pacific Gas and Electric early in 2007. Comverge also manages various aspects of programs at Gulf Power and Commonwealth Edison and has implemented pilot programs at several utilities across the U.S..

Overall, these contracts represent 495 megawatts of contracted capacity and a growing number of consumers participating in Comverge programs across the country.
