Maingate® Multi is a meter data collection system designed for densely populated areas and buildings, such as sub-metered apartment complexes and urban centers. The system operates by collecting data locally via power line carrier and communicating the aggregated data back to a head-end system via a telephone line or cellular modem.

In addition to collecting meter information, Maingate Multi also enables Demand Response and advanced pricing functionalities, achieved by integrating a "smart" SuperStat® thermostat into the system.

Maingate Multi enables consumers to program their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, one or more electric water heaters, a pool pump, or any other major auxiliary appliance through a password-protected web portal, or directly through their "smart" SuperStat thermostat. Maingate Multi will then automatically change the SuperStat's temperature setpoint and turn off any auxiliary appliances when a change in price occurs as per the consumer's preference.
