Defense Energy Support Center Chooses Comverge as a Qualified Demand Response Provider

Clean Energy Company to Provide Curtailment Services to Federal Facilities Across the U.S

EAST HANOVER, N.J., December 9, 2008  Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq: COMV), a provider of demand response and energy efficiency, announced today that the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) has approved Comverge as a qualified energy curtailment services provider. Throughout the five year agreement, all applicable U.S. military and federal facilities are able to participate in regional demand response programs.

The DESC's mission is to provide the Department of Defense and other government agencies with the most effective and economical comprehensive energy solutions. Military and federal facilities throughout the U.S. have the opportunity to participate in Comverge's demand response programs, which provide incentives to curtail demand and reduce load during peak periods in response to system reliability or market conditions, as defined by the Federal Energy Management Program.

As an approved curtailment provider, Comverge will identify the appropriate programs, including the curtailment mechanisms and amounts, and will facilitate the entire process from registration through financial settlement.

"As the nation continues to look for ways to reduce its energy consumption, demand response programs are becoming essential, as they help lessen the load on our national grid," said Robert M. Chiste, chairman, president and CEO of Comverge. Through our agreement, the DESC has made it easier than ever before for government and military facilities to become more energy efficient." Mr. Chiste added, "Comverge demand response systems are currently deployed at multiple military bases across the country and we expect this agreement will accelerate that adoption rate."
