Comverge, Inc. Introduces Bluetooth® Wireless Solution for Field Service of Demand Response Equipment
East Hanover, NJ - February 5, 2007: Comverge, Inc. announced today the availability of its Bluetooth enabled portable testing unit for remote diagnostics on its Demand Response devices. Utilizing this tool, a field engineer is able to communicate with devices from up to 30 feet away – a breakthrough in traditional methods of device diagnostics.
The Comverge IrDA to Bluetooth Adapter (CIBA) solution allows communication wirelessly with the Comverge Digital Control Units (DCU) or SuperSTAT units to extract field service information, configure or remotely program the unit and collect operational data. CIBA is designed to be implemented in new installations or as an add on to already installed DCU and SuperSTAT devices.
The CIBA data capturing software adds the convenience and flexibility of running on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile® operating system, which is compatible with a wide range of handheld hardware. Utilizing the handheld devices’ standard Bluetooth protocol the CIBA software enables fast and reliable data collection, adding range, speed and flexibility.
Key Benefits:
- Bluetooth wireless range of up to 30 feet.
- Compatible with most Bluetooth Windows Mobile enabled handhelds.
- Can be added to already installed DCU and SuperSTAT units.
“The CIBA solution delivers the flexibility to simply walk to within range of a properly equipped DCU or SuperSTAT unit and capture data wirelessly then move to the next device, quickly,” commented Ed Myszka, Comverge President and COO, Smart Grid Solutions Group. “In addition, the increased range Bluetooth offers will give field engineers easier and safer access to hard to reach units.”
