Commissioner, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Suedeen G. Kelly is a Commissioner at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, who has served since November 2003. In December 2004, she confirmed to a second term that expires June 30, 2009. Previously she was a Professor of Law at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she taught energy law, public utility regulation, administrative law and legislative process. She also worked with the law firm of Modrall, Sperling, Roehl, Harris & Sisk in Albuquerque from 2000 through 2003 and the law firm of Sheehan, Sheehan, and Stelzner from 1992 through 1999. In 2000, Ms. Kelly served as counsel to the California Independent System Operator. In 1999, she worked as a Legislative Aide to U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman

Tom Artau has been with Progress Energy for 18 years and is currently a Senior Energy Delivery Analyst responsible for coordinating the operation and maintenance of the dispatchable demand side management system, maintaining program inventory, as well as facilitating mail marketing campaign efforts. Prior to that, Tom spent six years as a NERC Certified System Operator, Certified Energy Manager and siz years in the Navy Nuclear Power Program. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from University of Florida and is currently pursuing an MBA from University of South Florida.

As President of the Boice Dunham Group (BDG), a business development consultancy he co-founded in 1983, Craig has helped many leading utilities design marketing strategies for consumer, business, and institutional markets. He is currently helping several of the nation's largest utilities build their green power programs. Craig aided the nation's largest mass-market launch of an energy conservation program, and he's also helped build breakout businesses in breakfast cereals, banking, spas, fish, real estate, software, and telecommunications. His energy industry work spans investments in generation, transmission, distribution, and retailing.

Walt Brown
Program Manager, Progress Energy Carolinas

Walt Brown is a Program Manager at Progress Energy Carolinas in their Demand Side Management organization. He has over 25 years of experience in the energy and telecom industries. Walt's primary responsibilities are focused on customer acquisition in Progress Energy's direct load control program currently under development for the Carolinas service territory. During the summer of 2007 Walt was responsible for the measurement and verification for Progress Energy Residential Load Control Pilot. Walt also partnered with a technology start-up to develop an experimental load control solution using in-premise power line carrier technology. Walt has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University along with other educational and professional certifications.

Pat has been a load management tech at Dairyland Power Cooperative for 7 years. Dairyland Power is a generation and transmission utility with 25 member co-ops that serve western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, northeast Iowa and the northwest corner of Illinois. Among Pat's duties at DPC is to maintain and make available the Comverge DCU for its 25 member co-ops. He lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin and has been a lifelong Wisconsin resident.

Brent has been the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for the ZigBee Alliance since early 2006. He started his work in wireless networking at a venture backed start-up in Boston where he spent three and a half years in Business Development for Ember Corporation, an early pioneer in wireless mesh networking technology for sensor networks. Before that, he spent six years with a public $500M specialty plastics company where he led various production operations and lean manufacturing initiatives. Brent holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, an MS in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Christie Rewey, Senior Research Associate at E source, investigates a variety of energy topics including energy-efficiency strategies and technologies, demand-side management, and regulatory policy. She specializes in energy efficiency and demand response programs and technologies. Before joining E source, she served as an energy policy specialist at the Denver-based National Conference of State Legislatures for six years. Christie provided publications, presentations, and testimony to legislatures on electric industry regulation, system benefit programs, utility resource procurement, energy security, energy efficiency, air quality, and climate change. She has a BA in political science from Colorado College and an MPA from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Eric has 30-year history working for energy companies, governments, and regulators. Eric has worked on energy markets and policy reforms in 20 countries and with over 50 utilities in the U.S. Previously he was a member of the Board of the California Independent System Operator, the CAISO Market Advisory Group, and Advisor to the California Public Utilities Commission. His doctoral research is in strategic management (game-theory) related decision-making. Eric holds a Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, an M.A. in Economics from New Mexico State University, and a B.S. in Environmental Planning & Policy Analysis from the University of California, Davis.
