“Our heaters were out of control …”
During a routine analysis of a retail store’s energy data, Comverge Energy Analysts observed that the store’s space heaters were still running in April.
Located in an inaccessible area of the building, the space heaters were not physically monitored. The information uncovered by the Comverge Energy Analysts prompted an immediate inspection, which revealed the space heaters’ thermostat was malfunctioning.
Without the vigilance of the Comverge Analysis Team, the heaters would have run throughout the summer, spurring higher AC use, needlessly wasting energy and money.
The store fixed the thermostat and proceeded to save $250 per month, 15% annually in energy costs.
