Business Sectors
Aside from the usual concerns of size, age and construction, hospitals and other healthcare facilities are particularly challenged in energy conservation because of all the different working environments they need to service. Often, a single building may house surgical, clinical, laboratory and office space in addition to patient care areas.
Comverge understands the unique demands this mosaic of environments requires and how best to manage the systems controlling indoor air quality, temperature, ventilation, lighting and water usage. Our solutions have helped healthcare facilities across the country improve operating efficiency and better serve their communities.
Comverge has helped healthcare facilities of all sizes realize opportunities to save energy and money in:
- Lighting (Interior and Exterior)
- Central Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems
- Compressed Air Systems
- Refrigeration and Chillers
- Food Service
- Laundry
- Motor systems (pumps, fans, compressors)
- Office/Electronic Equipment
- Water Usage
Case in Point
Comverge utilized its comprehensive energy audit to identify and manage a 3 to 6 megawatt daily load shed during peak demand periods. Using customized temperature-drift methodology, this health care organization saw significant savings across its seven co-located facilities, spread out across one regional transmission zone, with no discernable environmental change to patients, personnel or care-giving. Through our incentive-driven Demand Response program, the organization has received $400,000 in payments since Q3 2006.
