Business Sectors
The financial sector has led the global business community in green operation practices by pioneering the frontier of technological innovation. According to the Pew Research report, efforts to reduce paper use and encourage Internet banking have resulted in 43% of Internet users (63 million Americans) banking online in 2006.
And banks were among the first to realize the savings offered by demand response technology.
Comverge understands the energy demands of financial institutions and financial data centers – particularly managing multiple buildings of varying ages, each with unique floor space and construction. Comverge has a solid track record of saving energy and money for the financial sector, realizing opportunities in:
- Lighting
- Central Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems
- Compressed Air System
- Motor systems (pumps, fans and compressors)
Case in Point
After performing our uniquely tailored energy audits, Comverge identified and managed a daily 2 to 4 megawatt load shed in 21 buildings spanning three regional transmission zones (RTOs), assuring consistent power at both primary and secondary (redundancy) sites. Energy savings were achieved using the client’s existing automated infrastructure. In selected buildings, Comverge was able to design per-floor energy curtailment for maximum energy savings without impacting personnel comfort or vital data flow. By participating in Comverge Demand Response programs since mid-2005, this financial institution has received incentive payments totaling $450,000.
