Business Sectors
Historically, growers have considered energy costs well after their first concerns of labor and materials. Today, with energy resources dwindling and energy costs rising, smart energy management is becoming a priority in agriculture.
Comverge understands that most agricultural businesses’ electricity costs are tied to water usage. We can help reduce those costs by improving the efficiency of your irrigation pumping systems, simple load shifting and expert analysis of your farm’s energy infrastructure.
Comverge has helped farms of all sizes realize opportunities to save energy and money in:
- Motor systems (pumps, fans, compressors and conveyance)
- Lighting
- Central Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Systems
- Compressed Air Systems
- Refrigeration
Case in Point
At this Northeastern US agricultural air contaminant testing station, where accurately maintained temperature ranges and constant fresh air flow were critical, Comverge installed new pulse meters and a digital cellular gateway to enable real-time, accurate performance of the existing energy management infrastructure. Through the installation of Digital Cycling Units working in concert with the facility’s automated power management and cooling system, pre-programmed temperature adjustments were assured during emergency periods of peak demand. Even though it is a two-building operation, the customer is seeing the benefit of incentive income that further subsidizes its research.
