Field Services Supervisor (Beltsville, MD)

Utilizing our end-to-end energy intelligence software platform, Apollo, combined with its field-proven hardware products, Comverge uses wireless communications to provide energy intelligence solutions, including peak load management, automatic meter reading and grid-management programs to electric utilities and other energy suppliers. Comverge has more than 500 customers and two business models, including a "no-risk" Virtual Peaking Capacity outsource model in which the company assumes all the risk of installing and managing demand side management programs for our customer in exchange for capacity payments. We are seeking a highly motivated Field Services Supervisor to join our Beltsville, MD team.
Job Summary
As a key member of the Comverge Maryland team, the individual will be responsible for increasing the profitable growth of Comverge. The position requires a self starting individual who is results motivated and has the ability to manage a staff. The individual must have an analytical process background and exceptional management skills to provide world class customer service. Primary responsibilities include the support of utility based programs and the promotion of the program's features and benefits. Responsible to lead the Field Services Organization through performance metrics, drive policies and procedures and act as the subject matter expert in support of the Field Operations. Be able to achieve customer support objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews. This position is a direct report to the Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports Program Manager
- Ability to multi task and THRIVE in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Supports recruiting and hiring processes.
- Coordinates and assists in classroom and on site field training.
- Prepares work schedules and assign work.
- Supervises installs and other service activities.
- Manages resources ensuring safety, quality and efficient operations.
- Prioritizes field service orders and manage team accordingly including schedule changes as dictated by customer requirements.
- Actively supervises implementations in accordance with established installation procedures.
- Manages ongoing safety procedures and quality assurance.
- Ensures compliance with national, state and local electrical codes.
- Manages inventory through effective purchasing, monthly counts and account oversight.
- Oversight of field personnel as assigned.
- Control field related costs; audit field reporting (time, mileage and quality metrics)
- Tracks, analyzes and implements weekly reporting on field activities and effectiveness to ensure that performance requirements are met.
- Prepares for and participates in weekly staff meetings.
- Works closely with end clients to meet and exceed expectations and add value.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and combination of relevant work experience
- 10 years in a field engineer or technician capacity
- 7 years in a lead or supervisory role (teams of 5-20 depending on project)
- Experience leading installs or upgrades of products in the IT, Telecom, or Utility industries is preferred
- Superior communication skills – written, verbal, presentation and relationship management
- Excellent analysis and reasoning skills
- Computer skills – MS Office Suite, MS Project, field service software, and financial and database application experience
- Ability to occasionally lift or move products of up to 25 pounds
