We are currently seeking a highly motivated Energy Engineer to join our western region team.

Job Summary
In this position you will be a significant contributor to the profitable growth of Comverge as a key member of Enerwise team. You will be responsible for identifying and quantifying the opportunity for projects involving demand response, energy efficiency and energy management and operating improvements to major energy using equipment at customer facilities. The position will involve the conduct of field audits, development of the technical case for the offering, interfacing with the customer during the proposal process, report writing and development of comprehensive designs for efficiency improvements. This position will focus on Demand Response, Energy Auditing, Lighting Design and Retrofits, HVAC Efficiency and Performance Improvements, Indoor Air Quality Improvements, Efficient Motor Systems, Energy Management Strategies, Energy/Building Systems Controls, Performance Contracting, Co-generation feasibility studies, Steam Optimization studies and Asset Optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops detailed cost estimates for customized services.
  • Coordinates external estimates from engineering personnel, vendors and contractors.
  • Provides detailed description of project scope ad pricing parameters for proposals and contracts.
  • Conducts preliminary and investment-grade field audits of customer facilities to identify opportunities for energy efficiency or operational improvements.
  • Prepares analyses and reports recommending cost-effective measures for energy improvements.
  • Prepares designs and specifications for the equipment (e.g. lighting, chillers, VSD's) necessary to achieve energy improvements.
  • Evaluates end-use energy cost under various available delivery rate and supply scenarios.
  • Prepares the technical aspects of performance and efficiency improvement contracts.
  • Keeps abreast of new technologies supporting efficient energy utilization through reading, meeting with suppliers and attending seminars.
  • Evaluates the financial viability of any planned projects.
  • Assures coordination between the Energy Efficiency Services Group and the Delivery Teams Engineer and Project Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field and a minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible experience in the area of energy end-use and conservation or the equivalent in related experience, with additional study in the energy market highly desirable. You should have a strong background in building systems (HVAC, lighting, building automation systems), strong analytical and problem solving skills; the ability to communicate complex technical energy-use concepts to non-technical people and a thorough understanding of utility rates. Must be creative, customer-focused and have vision for the business. A CEM certification is desirable. Previous leadership experience is a plus.
