Electrical Field Technician (Kennett Square , PA)

Job Summary
In this position you will be a significant contributor to the profitable growth of Comverge as a key member of Enerwise team. You will be responsible for providing clients with specific electrical testing, maintenance and repair services. This position reports to the Manager, Field Services.

Responsibilities

• Assists in testing of medium and low voltage electrical equipment such as breakers, relays, switchgear and transformer to ensure proper electrical specifications and medical operations.
• Assists in locating faults in medium and low voltage cables.
• Assists in conducting and evaluating Doble power-factor tests on all applicable equipment, high voltage DC insulation resistance testing up to 180 kV, infrared thermographic analysis and hot glove and hot stick testing.
• Gathers technical information for engineering studies, as requested.
• Assists in repairing or replacing defective electrical or mechanical parts as required, to bring electrical equipment up to specifications.
• Gathers technical information and data for testing report generation.
• Assists in retrofitting electromechanical low voltage circuit breakers with solid-state, static-trip devices.
• Maintains contact (i.e. pager, two-way radio) and availability for emergency response to client needs.
• Assists in installation of meters and communications devices for power system monitoring purposes, as assigned.
• Assists in gathering information and pricing to generate proposals for power system maintenance/repair projects.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have an Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field a minimum of 2 - 4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual should have understanding and working knowledge of electromechanical devices and technology and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
